William henry jackson
Background : Jackson was born in Keesville, New york in 1843. He became involved in in photography in 1855. He opened a photoghraphy studio in Omaha after returning from the civil war in 1863. His work was quickly recognized, in 1870 he became the official photography for The United States Geological and Geographical Survey of the Territories.

Jackson liked to take photos of nature. From his pictures, he seemed fond of national parks. He had quite a few photos of Yellowstone and the canyons of Colorado. He also took pictures of homes and people in rural areas.
